Burned Biscuits Ruining Breakfast? Heres How to Tell When Theyre Done.

I’ve always been a fan of homemade biscuits. The smell of them baking in the oven, the warmth of them fresh out of the oven – it’s all just so comforting. So today, I decided, “Why not? I’ll bake some biscuits.” I pulled out my favorite recipe, the one passed down from my grandma. It’s foolproof, or so I thought.

First, I gathered all the ingredients: flour, baking powder, salt, butter, milk – the usual suspects. I whisked the dry ingredients together, cut in the cold butter until it looked like coarse crumbs, and then poured in the milk. The dough came together beautifully. I patted it out on a floured surface, feeling pretty good about myself at this point.

Next, I used a biscuit cutter to stamp out those cute little rounds. They looked perfect! I placed them on a baking sheet and popped them into the preheated oven. My mouth was already watering, anticipating that first buttery bite.

Here’s where things went south. I got distracted. One minute I was setting the timer, the next I was deep into a phone conversation with my sister. We were talking about everything and nothing, laughing and gossiping. You know how it is when you get caught up with family.

The next thing I knew, I smelled something… off. It wasn’t the sweet, buttery aroma I was expecting. No, this was more like… burnt toast. Panic set in. I dashed to the oven and yanked open the door. A cloud of smoke billowed out, and there they were, my poor biscuits – charred black on top.

My Biscuit Disaster

  • Looked at the timer: 5 minutes past the baking time.
  • Cursed under my breath.
  • Pulled out the baking sheet, coughing from the smoke.
  • Stared at the blackened biscuits in disbelief.
  • Tried to salvage them by scraping off the burnt tops, but it was no use. They were beyond saving.

So, yeah, that’s the story of how I managed to burn a batch of biscuits. It was a humbling experience, to say the least. A reminder that even the simplest recipes can go wrong if you’re not paying attention. I ended up ordering pizza, and let’s just say, I’ll be sticking to store-bought biscuits for a while.

But hey, at least I got a good story out of it, right? And maybe a valuable lesson learned: never underestimate the power of a timer… and always, always pay attention when you’re baking! Also, don’t call your sister when you baking.
