So, I decided to make a bunny cake today. I found this cute bunny cake mold online and thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I’m no professional baker, you know, just doing it for fun. I’ve always loved those cute bunny cakes you see around Easter, and this year I thought I would just try it out.
First, I got all my ingredients ready. I used a simple vanilla cake recipe – nothing fancy. Just your usual flour, sugar, eggs, and butter. I mixed them all together in a big bowl, making sure it was nice and smooth. Oh boy, the batter tasted so good, I almost ate it all before baking!

Then, I greased the bunny cake mold. This was a bit tricky, as I had to make sure to get into all the little corners and details of the mold. I used some butter and then sprinkled some flour over it, shaking off the excess. It was like giving the mold a little dust bath.
After that, I poured the batter into the mold. I filled it up about two-thirds full, just like the instructions said. I didn’t want it to overflow while baking. I popped it into the oven, which I had preheated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Then I set a timer for about 30 minutes. While it was baking, I cleaned up the kitchen a bit and got ready the decorations.
Once the timer went off, I took the cake out of the oven. It looked so golden and smelled amazing! I let it cool in the mold for about 10 minutes. Then I carefully flipped it out onto a wire rack to cool completely. This was the moment of truth! It came out perfectly, phew!
Decorating Time
Now for the fun part – decorating! I had bought some colorful frosting and a bunch of candy. I decided to go for a simple white frosting base. I spread it evenly all over the bunny. It was a bit messy, but hey, that’s part of the fun, right?
I used some pink frosting for the inner ears and nose. For the eyes, I used two big chocolate chips. I thought they gave the bunny a cute, wide-eyed look. Then, I took some Kit Kats and put them all around the base of the cake to create this fun Easter basket look. This was a little trick I saw in a video, and it really makes it look cool, like the bunny is sitting in a basket.
I added some jellybeans around the base too, just to make it look a bit more colorful. It turned out so adorable! I mean, I was seriously proud of myself. It looked like something you’d see on Pinterest, maybe not as perfect, but definitely cute.
The whole process took me about 2 hours, including the baking and decorating. It was a fun way to spend an afternoon, and the cake was a hit with my family. We took some pictures and then dug in. It tasted as good as it looked! I think I might try this again next year, maybe with different decorations. It was really fun and the cake is all gone now, so time to clean up!

My Tips for Next Time:
- Make sure the mold is really well-greased.
- Don’t overfill the mold.
- Let the cake cool completely before decorating.
- Get creative with the decorations!
I would say that making this bunny cake was a success! It’s not as hard as it looks, and it’s a fun activity to do, especially around Easter. Give it a try, and let me know how yours turns out!
