Alright, so I’ve been seeing this “honey cinnamon” thing all over Japanese social media lately, and I figured, why not give it a try? It sounds pretty simple, and honestly, who doesn’t love a good sweet treat?
First, I gathered my ingredients. Basically, just honey and cinnamon. I used some local honey I picked up from the farmer’s market last weekend, and the cinnamon was just regular stuff from my spice rack. Nothing fancy.

Then, I started mixing them. I didn’t really follow a specific recipe. I just dumped some honey into a small bowl, maybe like two spoonfuls, and then sprinkled in a bit of cinnamon. I stirred it around with a spoon, and it looked like it needed more cinnamon, so I added a bit more until I got that nice, light brown color.
- Two spoonfuls of honey
- Cinnamon to taste
I kept mixing and tasting, you know, just to make sure it was good. It took a few tries to get the balance right. Too much cinnamon, and it’s kind of overpowering, but too little, and it’s just, well, honey. Eventually, I found a ratio I liked, and that’s the best part.
I spread it on some toast, and it was actually pretty tasty. It’s like a warm, comforting flavor, perfect for a lazy morning. I can see why this is so popular in Japan.
My thoughts
Overall, making honey cinnamon was a fun little experiment. It’s easy, it’s cheap, and it’s a nice way to spice up your breakfast or snack time. I’d definitely recommend giving it a shot if you’re looking for something new to try in the kitchen!
Next, I think I will try with different kinds of bread or maybe add it into yogurt. There seem to be so many ways to enjoy it, and I am excited to explore more!
