Okay, so, I had this major craving for fruit cake the other day. But not just any fruit cake, I wanted one without nuts. I’m not allergic or anything, I just don’t like nuts in my fruit cake. You feel me? So, the hunt began!
First, I hit up Google. You know, the usual, “where to buy fruit cake without nuts near me”. I got a bunch of results, but nothing really stood out. Some of the info was pretty basic, like telling me what a fruit cake is. Duh. I know what a fruit cake is! I just wanted to find a place to buy one without nuts.

Then, I thought, maybe I should try baking one myself. I found this recipe online, it seemed simple enough. It was all like, “easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions.” Yeah, right. It might be easy for some baking whiz, but not for me. I got lost somewhere between “sift the flour” and “fold in the fruit”. I ain’t got time for that.
My Fruit Cake Hunt Continues
So, baking was a no-go. I decided to check out some local bakeries. I called a few places, but no luck. Either they didn’t have fruit cake at all, or they were all loaded with nuts. I started to get desperate. Fruit cake is, like, a holiday thing, right? But I wanted it in the middle of, well, not the holidays.
I even looked online for places that ship. I found some that had “nut-free” options, but then you read the fine print and it’s like, “may contain traces of nuts” or the price was crazy high. Thirty bucks for a small cake? Come on!
Finally, I remembered this little bakery a few towns over. I hadn’t been there in ages. It was a long shot, but I figured, why not? I drove over, and guess what? They had fruit cake! And, drumroll please… it was nut-free! I was so stoked.
- Called a bunch of bakeries – no luck.
- Tried to bake one – epic fail.
- Searched online for shipping – too expensive or not truly nut-free.
- Remembered a bakery far away – BINGO!
It wasn’t a huge cake, maybe six inches across, but it was perfect. The price was decent, too. Not like those thirty-dollar rip-offs. I bought it, took it home, and devoured a slice (or two) with a cup of tea. It was everything I wanted. The moral of the story? Don’t give up on your fruit cake dreams. And sometimes, the best things are found in the most unexpected places.
Man, I really love that I can always get what I want.
