Okay, so today I tried making mac n cheese bread bowls. Let me tell you, it was quite an adventure!
First off, I gathered all the stuff I needed. I’m talking pasta, like, a whole box of elbow macaroni, a bunch of different cheeses – cheddar, Gruyere, and some Parmesan, because why not? Then there’s the usual suspects: butter, flour, milk, and some spices. Oh, and the bread bowls! I picked up some nice, round loaves from the bakery section at the grocery store.

I started by cooking the pasta. You know, just boiled some water, threw in the macaroni, and let it cook until it was, like, al dente. While that was going, I got to work on the cheese sauce.
I melted a big chunk of butter in a pot, then whisked in some flour to make a roux. It got all thick and bubbly. Then, I slowly poured in the milk while whisking like crazy to avoid lumps. Once it was smooth, I started adding the cheese, one handful at a time. Stirred it all in until it was melty and gooey and oh-so-cheesy.
Then came the fun part – prepping the bread bowls. I sliced off the tops of the loaves and hollowed them out. I made sure to leave a good wall so the whole thing wouldn’t fall apart when I filled it with the mac and cheese.

Next, I mixed the cooked pasta with the cheese sauce. It was a beautiful, cheesy mess. I carefully spooned the mac and cheese into the bread bowls, sprinkled some extra Parmesan on top, because, again, why not?
Finally, I popped them into the oven for a bit, just to get everything nice and warm and to let the cheese on top get a little crispy. I baked the bread bowl tops along side of them so that I could use them as little lids.
The result?
Pure cheesy, bready goodness. It was a total hit! And it’s easy, I highly recommend trying it out. It was a fun little project, and the end result was totally worth it.
