So, the other day I decided to give baking a go. I’ve always wanted to try my hand at it, you know?
First off, I hit up a few stores to check out what baking tools they had. I was kinda overwhelmed by all the choices, honestly. There are so many different brands and types of equipment.

I started with the basics – mixing bowls. I grabbed a set of three, different sizes, because I figured you always need more than one, right? Then, I moved on to measuring cups and spoons. I picked up a set that had both, just to make things easier. They had all sorts of measurements.
Next, I got myself a whisk. I wasn’t sure if I needed an electric mixer just yet, so I opted for a manual one. Plus, it felt more, I don’t know, authentic?
Then I saw these silicone spatulas and thought they looked pretty handy for scraping down the sides of the bowls. So, into the cart they went!
Of course, I needed something to bake in. I picked up a couple of cake pans, just your standard round ones. And a baking sheet, because cookies are a must, obviously.
Lastly, I saw these cooling racks and figured they were probably important. I mean, you can’t just leave your freshly baked goods on the hot pan, right?

Bringing It All Together
I tried baking a simple vanilla cake. I measured out all the ingredients using my new cups and spoons, mixed everything in the bowls, and used the whisk to beat the batter. I gotta say, using actual baking tools made the whole process so much smoother.
I poured the batter into the cake pans I got, popped them in the oven, and waited. Once they were done, I took them out and placed them on the cooling rack.

It was a success! The cake turned out pretty good for a first attempt, if I do say so myself. Having the right tools definitely made a difference. I felt like a real baker, even though it was just a simple cake. I’m excited to try more recipes now!
