Okay, so, today I want to talk about making a yellow food coloring book. It is not a tough job, let me share my experience with you guys.
First, I thought about what I wanted to do. Since I love cooking and baking, and I always feel like adding some colors to my food, I decided to make my own food coloring, and today I started with yellow.

I did some research online, and it seemed like there were a couple of ways to do this. I could buy pre-made yellow food coloring, or I could try making it myself. I opted for the DIY route because, well, it sounded more fun and I like challenges.
Now, the internet gave me a bunch of ideas for natural yellow dyes. I found out that you could use things like turmeric, saffron, or even just regular yellow fruits and vegetables. I decided to experiment with turmeric first since I had some in my kitchen.
I took a teaspoon of turmeric powder and mixed it with a little bit of water. It made this really vibrant yellow paste. Then, I tried adding it to some frosting I had made. I just added a tiny bit at a time, mixing it in until I got the shade of yellow I wanted. It worked pretty well! The frosting turned a nice, sunny yellow.
- Take turmeric powder.
- Mix it with water.
- Add the mixture to food.
- Stir and see the color change.
After that, I wanted to see if I could use something else. I had some bananas that were getting a bit too ripe, so I mashed one up and mixed it with a little water. To my surprise, it also gave a pale yellow color when I added it to the frosting. Not as bright as the turmeric, but still a nice, natural yellow. I recorded every step in the notebook so I can use these methods in the future.
So, after trying out these two methods, I wrote down all my observations and results in my notebook. I even stuck in some pictures of the different shades of yellow I managed to create. I think this will be a fun and useful reference for my future cooking projects. It was really cool to see how you can make your own natural food coloring with stuff you probably already have at home!
My Findings
I learned that making yellow food coloring at home is totally doable, and it’s kind of fun to play around with different ingredients. I will definitely be trying this out with other colors too. Maybe I will make another notebook for them!
