Well, let me tell ya, this “Banana Bread no Pudding” thing, it’s somethin’ else. I ain’t never read no manga in my life, but my grandkid, she’s always on that phone of hers, readin’ these picture books. Says this one’s a big deal, a “shoujo” somethin’-or-other.

What’s it all about, you ask? Well, from what I gather, it’s about this girl, Ira, and her sister gettin’ hitched. Now, Ira’s sister, she used to do all sorts of things for her, like takin’ her to the bathroom after ten and singin’ her songs, like “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” I reckon. Sounds kinda clingy if you ask me, but what do I know? These young folks, they got their own ways.
So, the big question is, who’s gonna take care of Ira now? That’s the whole “pudding” of the story, I guess. This “Banana Bread” part, I ain’t so sure about. Maybe Ira likes banana bread? Or maybe it’s just a fancy name to make folks curious. Lord knows these city folks like to complicate things.
This manga, it’s got all sorts of things in it, they say. Drama, like when your cow gets loose and eats the neighbor’s prize-winning roses. Psychological stuff, like figurin’ out why the rooster crows at 4 AM even though the sun ain’t up yet. And it’s “School Life,” which means it’s about kids in school, learnin’ their ABCs and 123s, I suppose.
- It’s a “shoujo” manga, which means it’s for girls. Not like them superhero comics my grandson reads. This one’s all about feelin’s and relationships and stuff.
- People online, they seem to like it a lot. Givin’ it high scores and writin’ all sorts of fancy words about it. They say it’s “completed,” so I guess the story’s all done. No waitin’ around for the next chapter, like waitin’ for the crops to grow.
- You can read it online for free, which is good, ’cause I ain’t payin’ no money for no picture book. There’s all sorts of websites where you can find it. Just gotta type in the name, “Banana Bread no Pudding,” and there it is, like magic.
Now, talkin’ about bananas got me thinkin’ about actual banana bread. I make a mean banana bread myself, though I don’t put no pudding in it. Just good ol’ flour, sugar, eggs, and some mashed-up bananas. The riper the better, they say. When the peel gets all wrinkly and brown, that’s when they’re the sweetest. Just like life, I guess. Sometimes the best things come when you’re a little beat up and worn out.
And let me tell ya somethin’ else about bananas. They’re good for you, especially after a hard day’s work. Mix ‘em up with some milk in one of them blender things, and you got yourself a powerful drink. Puts some pep in your step, that’s for sure. My old man, he used to say, “A banana a day keeps the doctor away.” Though he also said that about apples, so who knows what to believe?

Anyways, back to this manga. If you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to read, somethin’ that’ll make you think and maybe even shed a tear or two, then maybe give this “Banana Bread no Pudding” a try. It ain’t my cup of tea, but then again, I prefer a good cup of coffee and a slice of homemade banana bread any day. But hey, to each their own, right?
So, there you have it. My take on this “Banana Bread no Pudding” thing. Ain’t no expert, just tellin’ it like I see it. Now if you’ll excuse me, I got some bananas to mash and a loaf of bread to bake.
