Alright, so you wanna know where to get some good ol’ lemon juice, the pure kind, huh? Not that fake stuff they sell sometimes. I tell you, finding real things these days is like finding a needle in a haystack, everything’s mixed with somethin’ else.
Well, first off, you gotta think about what you need it for. You makin’ lemonade for the grandkids? Or maybe you need it for some kinda fancy recipe? Or maybe you just wanna drink it straight, like some folks do. Me, I like a little bit in my tea sometimes. Makes it taste… well, lemony.

If you want the REAL stuff, the best stuff, you gotta squeeze it yourself. Yeah, I know, it’s a pain in the butt. You gotta buy them lemons, cut ’em, squeeze ’em, gets your hands all sticky. But that’s how you know it’s pure, no funny business. Go to the store, pick out the prettiest lemons you can find, the ones that feel heavy for their size. That means they got lots of juice in ’em.
- Get yourself a good lemon squeezer, the kind that don’t break after you use it twice.
- Cut them lemons in half, not lengthwise, but across the middle.
- Then you squeeze and squeeze till your arms get tired. But it’s worth it, trust me.
Now, if you’re lazy, or you just need a whole bunch of it, and don’t have the time, I guess you can buy it. But be careful, lots of that stuff ain’t pure, they add water, sugar, all sorts of things. You gotta read them labels, look for the words “100% pure lemon juice.” And even then, sometimes they lie, so you never really know.
I heard some folks say that the bottled stuff ain’t got as much of that… whatchamacallit… vitamin C, as the fresh squeezed. And they put in stuff to make it last longer, preservatives, they call it. Who knows what that stuff does to your insides? Me, I don’t like the sound of it. I stick to the real thing whenever I can.
Okay, so where can you buy this bottled stuff if you gotta? Big stores, they usually have it. You know, the ones with the long aisles and everything. Look in the juice section, or maybe where they keep the mixers for drinks. Sometimes it’s even with the vinegar, believe it or not. And sometimes they hide it on the bottom shelf, so you gotta bend down and look real close. They do that with everything, don’t they? Make you work for it.
And if you don’t wanna go all the way to the big store and drive all over, you can look on that internet thing, what my grandkids call e-bay, or something like that. I heard they sell everything on there, even lemon juice! But again, you gotta be careful, read the description, make sure it says “pure,” and check the reviews, see what other folks are saying. You don’t wanna end up with some watered-down garbage. I ain’t never ordered nothing online but my grandson said there’s all kinds of it on there. They even got that fancy kind, what they call organic. Means they didn’t spray it with no bad chemicals, I guess. Costs more, of course. Everything good costs more these days.
Some brands are better than others, I reckon. But I ain’t gonna tell you no names, ’cause I don’t wanna get sued or nothin’. You just gotta try ’em out, see which one you like. And don’t be afraid to ask around, see what your friends or neighbors use. Word of mouth, that’s the best way to find things, always has been.
So there you have it. That’s all I know about getting lemon juice. Fresh is best, but if you gotta buy it, read them labels and don’t get ripped off. And remember, a little bit of lemon juice goes a long way. Don’t go drinkin’ a whole bottle at once, unless you want your stomach to hurt. And if you’re making lemonade, don’t forget the sugar! Unless you like it sour, I guess. Some folks do. To each their own, I always say.

And one last thing. If you’re using that bottled stuff, and you’re mixing it with water or somethin’, make sure your water’s clean. You don’t wanna go gettin’ sick from dirty water. That’s just common sense, but you’d be surprised how many people don’t think about these things.
