Alright, listen up, y’all. Today, we’re gonna yak about this matcha green tea cake thing. I heard it’s all the rage with them fancy city folks, so I figured, why not? Can’t be harder than milkin’ a cow, right?
So, first things first, we gotta get our hands on some matcha. Now, I ain’t never seen this stuff before, but they tell me it’s some kind of fancy green powder. You can probably find it at that big store in town, the one with all them bright lights. Just ask the young’uns workin’ there; they know all about this newfangled stuff. Make sure it says “matcha” on the bag, though. Don’t want no spinach powder or somethin’!
Next, we need flour. You know, the white stuff we use for bakin’ pies. Just grab a scoop or two, whatever you got on hand. This ain’t rocket science, folks. And sugar, gotta have sugar. Makes everything taste better, just like my ol’ sweet tea. A good handful will do ya. And baking powder, too. That’s what makes the cake all fluffy and light.
Now, here’s where it gets a bit tricky. They say we need some kind of “vegan” stuff. That means no eggs and no milk. Go figure! So, instead of eggs, they say we gotta use applesauce. Yeah, applesauce, like the stuff you give to babies. And for milk, we’re gonna use some almond milk. I ain’t never tried almond milk myself, but I guess it can’t hurt none. They say you can also use coconut milk or even soy milk. Pick your poison, I say.
Alright, so we got all our stuff ready. Let’s get to mixin’. First, you dump all the dry stuff in a big bowl: the flour, the sugar, the matcha powder, and the baking powder. Whisk it all together real good, so it’s all mixed up proper. Then you add the wet stuff: the applesauce, the almond milk, and a little bit of oil. You don’t need a fancy mixer; a spoon and some elbow grease will do just fine. Just stir it all together till it’s nice and smooth, no lumps or nothin’.

Now, you gotta grease up your pan. I just use a bit of butter, but you city folks probably got that fancy spray stuff. Pour the batter into the pan and spread it out even. Then, pop it in the oven. I don’t know exactly how hot your oven needs to be, but mine’s usually set at “medium hot.” Just keep an eye on it, and when it looks done, it’s done. You can stick a toothpick in it, and if it comes out clean, it’s ready to come out. Probably takes about half an hour, maybe a bit more.
- Ingredients you need:
- Matcha powder, they said so
- Flour, the white stuff
- Sugar, plenty of it
- Baking powder
- Applesauce, like for babies
- Almond milk (or some other fancy milk)
- Oil, just a little
While the cake’s bakin’, you can make the frosting. Now, I ain’t much for frosting, but they say this matcha cake needs it. So, we’ll do it their way. They tell me you need powdered sugar, more of that matcha stuff, and some coconut cream. Just whip it all together till it’s nice and fluffy. You can add a little vanilla, too, if you’re feelin’ fancy. Once the cake is cooled down, slap that frosting on top and spread it all around.
And there you have it, a matcha green tea cake. I ain’t gonna lie, it sounds a bit weird, but I guess it can’t hurt to try new things. Who knows, maybe this green cake will be the next big thing since sliced bread. Or maybe it’ll taste like grass. Either way, it’ll be an adventure, and that’s what life’s all about, ain’t it? So go on, give it a try. And if it turns out good, you can tell everyone you learned it from ol’… well, from a friend, let’s say.
Important thing to remember, if it don’t look right or taste right, don’t eat it! We don’t want anyone gettin’ a bellyache on account of some fancy green cake. Just stick to what you know, and if all else fails, there’s always pie. Can’t go wrong with a good ol’ apple pie. Now, go on and get bakin’, y’all. And don’t forget to clean up your mess when you’re done. Ain’t nobody got time for a messy kitchen.
