Calories & Nutrition in Whole Wheat Ritz Crackers

Alright, let’s gab about these whole wheat Ritz crackers, you know, the ones in that red box. I ain’t no fancy doctor or nothin’, but I can tell ya a thing or two about what’s in ‘em.

Calories & Nutrition in Whole Wheat Ritz Crackers

Now, first off, they say there’s about 70 calories in five of them crackers. Seventy! That sounds like a lot for just a few bites, don’t it? I mean, back in my day, we ate a whole lot more than that for breakfast and worked it off in the fields before lunch. But these young folks, they sit around all day, so maybe 70 calories is a big deal for them.

They also say most of that is carbs, ya know, the stuff that gives you energy. Then there’s some fat, and a little bit of protein. I guess that’s alright, but I always say, nothin’ beats a good piece of meat for protein. You need somethin’ that sticks to your ribs, ya know?

What’s in these Crackers Anyway?

  • They talk about “unbleached enriched flour.” Sounds fancy, but it’s just wheat flour, the kinda stuff they make bread with. They add some vitamins to it too, like B1 and B2. I reckon that’s good for ya, vitamins are important, or so they say on the TV.
  • Then there’s the whole wheat part. Now, that’s supposed to be better for ya than the regular white flour. They say it’s got more fiber, which helps ya go to the bathroom regular, if ya know what I mean. That’s always a good thing, ain’t it? Nothin’ worse than bein’ all stopped up.

I saw somethin’ about a “macro nutrient pie chart” too. Sounded like somethin’ from outer space! But it just shows ya how much of each thing is in the crackers, like a picture. Mostly carbs, then fat, then a tiny sliver of protein. And hardly any water, which makes sense, they’re crackers, not soup!

Are They Healthy?

Calories & Nutrition in Whole Wheat Ritz Crackers

Well, that’s the million-dollar question, ain’t it? They say whole grains are good for ya, and that’s what these crackers have. But they also got fat and salt, and too much of that ain’t good for nobody. I always say, everything in moderation. You can’t just eat crackers all day and expect to be healthy. You gotta eat your vegetables, your fruits, and some good ol’ fashioned meat and potatoes.

I heard tell that some folks like them Wheat Thins crackers. They say they’re healthier, but I don’t know. Seems like everything’s “healthier” these days, but nothin’ tastes as good as it used to. Maybe I’m just gettin’ old and cranky, but I remember when food was just food, and you ate it ‘til you were full. Now you gotta worry about calories, and carbs, and all that jazz.

Anyways, these Ritz crackers, they ain’t the worst thing you can eat, but they ain’t the best neither. If you like ‘em, eat ‘em, but don’t go overboard. And make sure you eat plenty of other good stuff too. That’s what I always say. A little bit of this, a little bit of that, and you’ll be alright.

What Else You Should Know

They say you can look up all sorts of stuff about these crackers online. Calories, sugar, salt, all that. I ain’t got no computer, but maybe your grandkids can show ya. They know all about that stuff.

But I tell ya, sometimes it’s best not to overthink it. If it tastes good and it fills your belly, that’s good enough for me. Life’s too short to worry about every little crumb, ya know?
