Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about this “dessert purple” thing. I ain’t no fancy cook or nothin’, but I know a thing or two about good eatin’. Purple stuff, huh? Sounds kinda weird, but I reckon it could be tasty.

First thing that comes to mind is them berries. You know, the ones that stain your fingers purple? Like them blueberries. My grandbaby, she loves them blueberries. We used to go pickin’ ’em in the summertime, buckets full. Always made a pie, or a cobbler, somethin’ sweet. That purple juice, it’s somethin’ else, ain’t it? Sweet and tangy, makes your mouth water just thinkin’ about it.
And then there’s them other purple things…what do ya call ’em…plums! Yeah, them purple plums. My neighbor, old Mr. Henderson, he had a plum tree in his yard. Used to give us bags full of ’em. We’d make jam, you see? Cook it down with sugar, make it all thick and gooey. Spread that on some biscuits, now that’s a treat! That deep purple color, makes it look so rich, ya know?
- Berries: Blueberries, blackberries, all them good purple berries.
- Plums: Sweet and juicy, perfect for jam or just eatin’ straight.
- Grapes: Some of them grapes are purple, real sweet ones.
Now, I heard tell of some other purple things folks eat. Like them… uh-bees? Yeah, that’s it! Ube, they call it. Never seen it myself, but my niece, she lives in the city, she was tellin’ me about it. Said it’s a kind of potato, but purple! Can you believe it? Makes cakes and cookies and all sorts of fancy stuff with it. Said it tastes sweet and kinda nutty. I reckon I’d try it, if I ever got the chance. Sounds interestin’, that’s for sure.
And there’s purple cabbage too, I almost forgot! We used to grow it in the garden. Not sweet like the other stuff, but it’s got a nice color to it. Cook it up with some vinegar and sugar, it gets kinda sweet and sour. Goes good with pork chops, I tell ya. My old man, he loved that purple cabbage. Said it gave him energy, or somethin’ like that. He was a character, that one.
So, this “dessert purple” thing…it ain’t just one thing, is it? It’s all sorts of things. From berries to plums to potatoes…and even cabbage! It’s all about that color, that deep, rich purple. Makes you think of somethin’ special, somethin’ delicious. And that’s what matters, ain’t it? Good food, good company, and a good time. That’s what life’s all about, as far as I’m concerned.

I remember this one time, we had a big family get-together. It was my birthday, I think. And my daughter, she made me this big purple cake. Said it was a special recipe, somethin’ she found online. It was made with them… uh-bees, I guess. And it had this creamy, purple frosting. It was the prettiest cake I ever did see. And it tasted mighty fine too. We all sat around the table, eatin’ cake and laughin’. It was a good day. A real good day.
So, next time you see somethin’ purple, don’t be afraid to try it. You never know, it might just be the best thing you ever tasted. And that’s the truth, I tell ya. From my kitchen to yours, happy eatin’!
And remember, it don’t matter if it’s fancy or simple, long as it tastes good and makes you happy. That’s the most important thing.
