You know, I ain’t no fancy baker, but I make a real good sesame bread, yes I do. Ain’t nothing complicated, just good, plain bread that fills your belly. I start with flour, you know, the regular kind, and a bit of that other stuff, semolina, they call it. Makes the bread a bit special, they say.

Now, I dump it all in a big bowl, the flours and some yeast. Yeast is important, makes the bread rise nice and fluffy. Add some warm water, just the right temperature, not too hot, not too cold. Then a pinch of salt, for taste, and a bit of sugar, to feed the yeast. Mix it all up with a big spoon, until it’s all sticky and messy.
- Mix the flours and yeast
- Add warm water
- Add salt and sugar
Then I put some flour on the table and dump the sticky dough on it. Start kneadin’, you know, push and pull with your hands. Takes a bit of work, makes your arms tired, but it’s worth it. Knead it till it’s smooth and stretchy, like a baby’s bottom. Put it back in the bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it sit somewhere warm. Let the yeast do its magic, make the dough puff up real big.
After a while, it’s all big and puffy. Punch it down, get the air out. Now, the sesame seeds. You gotta have sesame seeds, that’s what makes it sesame bread. Sprinkle a bunch on the table and roll the dough around in them, get ’em stuck all over. Put the dough in a pan, let it rise again a bit.
Then, the oven. Gotta be hot, real hot. Bake it till it’s golden brown, and smells like heaven. When it’s done, let it cool a bit, then slice it up. Eat it with butter, or jam, or just plain. It’s good bread, fills you up, keeps you going all day.
I hear tell sesame seeds are good for you too. Something about strong bones and healthy fats. Don’t know much about that, but I know it tastes good. And that’s what matters, right? Good, simple food.

You can buy bread from the store, sure, but it ain’t the same. Costs more too. My sesame bread, it’s made with love, with your own two hands. And it don’t take long, really. Just a bit of time and effort, and you got yourself a real treat.
So next time you want some good bread, make it yourself. Try my sesame bread. You won’t be disappointed. It’s the best darn bread around, I tell ya. And anyone can make it, even a old woman like me.
