Okay, so I wanted to figure out the price of 1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour. Sounds simple enough, right? But let me tell you, it turned into a whole thing.
First, I grabbed my phone and opened up a browser. I typed in something like “all-purpose flour price” and hit enter. I got a bunch of results for online grocery stores. Instacart, Target, you name it. They all had listings for flour, but it was all for big bags, like 5 pounds or 10 pounds. Not exactly what I was looking for.

Shopping Around
- I checked out a few different stores’ websites. Some offered discounts, like 10% off if you used their delivery service.
- One place talked about their organic flour being “ideal for the full range of your baking repertoire.” Fancy, but still not what I needed.
- Another site mentioned their all-purpose flour was their “#1 selling product.” Okay, that’s cool, but how much does a tablespoon cost?
So, then I decided to get a little more specific. I started searching for things like “how many tablespoons in a cup of flour” and “weight of 1 tablespoon of flour.” Turns out, a cup of all-purpose flour is about 120 grams. And there are roughly 16 tablespoons in a cup. Some websites offered weight-to-volume converters for recipes, which was a bit helpful.
Doing the Math
Alright, so if a cup is 120 grams and a 5-pound bag is like 2268 grams (yeah, I had to look that up too), then I could figure out how many cups are in a bag. Then I could divide the price of the bag by the number of cups to get the price per cup. And finally, I could divide that by 16 to get the price per tablespoon. See, a whole production!
After all that, I finally got my answer. It’s a tiny amount! We’re talking cents here. But hey, at least I learned a thing or two about flour and online grocery shopping in the process.
It’s kinda funny when you think about it. I just wanted a simple price, and I ended up doing all this digging. But that’s just how it goes sometimes, I guess. You start with one question, and before you know it, you’re down a rabbit hole of information. Anyway, that’s my little adventure for today. Hope you found it at least a little entertaining!
